Today is Mental Health Day-a day for everyone, no exceptions. We are all involved in the conversation about mental health.

Before we begin, I want to ask: How are you feeling today?

Are you just hanging in there, or are you not okay? Remember, it’s okay not to be okay. Embrace your emotions. You can either let them consume you, or you can face them head-on.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It has intrinsic and instrumental value and is integral to our well-being.” Mental health encompasses mental disorders and psychosocial disabilities, with anxiety and depression being the most common conditions.

What are some causes of mental health challenges?

These can include childhood abuse, trauma, neglect, social isolation, discrimination, poverty, long-term stress, or the loss of a loved one. Physical health conditions can also impact mental well-being.

So how can you approach and deal with mental health challenges?
